Oil and gas company Erin Energy has named a new chief executive officer (CEO) and a new chairman of the board during its annual meeting of shareholders held on May 17, 2017.

Namely, Femi Ayoade, John Rudley, and Mahmud Yayale Ahmed were elected to fill empty seats on the company’s board resulting from the retirement of William J. Campbell, Ira Wayne McConnell, and former CEO Segun Omidele.

At its meeting, following the shareholders meeting, the board elected Ayoade as Erin Energy’s chief executive officer to replace interim CEO, Jean-Michel Malek. The interim CEO took over after Omidele resigned as both the CEO and a member of the board in late February.

Ayoade has served as VP of production operations since 2016 and the managing director of Erin Petroleum Nigeria Limited since 2013. From 2008 to 2013, he was a senior technical executive at CAMAC Petroleum Limited.

To lead the company’s board, Erin Energy elected Frank Ingriselli to the position of chairman.

Ingriselli replaces John Hofmeister as the chairman of the board. He currently serves as the president and CEO of Blackhawk Energy Ventures, a position he has held since founding the company in 2016. Ingriselli was also the founder of PEDEVCO Corp. in 2011 and of Pacific Asia Petroleum Inc. in 2005, Erin Energy’s predecessor entity.

“I am honored to be returning to Erin Energy as chairman and thank John Hofmeister for all his contributions to the company over his seven years of service. I plan to take a very active role in working with the Erin management team and the board to efficiently and economically deliver on its development plans,” said Ingriselli.

Also, Erin Energy shareholders appointed PKF as the company’s auditors for 2017 and approved, on a non-binding advisory basis, the compensation of the company’s named executive officers.
