Norway: Statoil Gets Green Light for Exploration Drilling with COSL Pioneer

Statoil has received consent to carry out exploration drilling in the northern North Sea with the COSL Pioneer mobile facility.

The consent relates to the drilling of exploration well 33/12-9S which is part of production licence 152. Statoil (70%) is the operator with Petoro (30%) as the partner.

COSLPioneer’s planned position when drilling well 33/12-9S is:

N 61°01’ 46.89”, E 1°56’ 0.72”. Water depth at the site is 132 metres.

The earliest date for start-up of drilling is mid-October 2011. The operation has an estimated duration of 72 days.

COSLPioneer is a type GM 4000D semi-submersible drilling facility, operated by COSL Drilling Europe AS.
