
Moments ago, a contract signing ceremony for a new tug vessel took place at Damen booth at the Offshore Energy 2012 Exhibition & Conference in Amsterdam.
The contract was signed by the Dutch shipbuilder and a privately owned towage company Iskes Towage and Salvage.
The new vessel, of ASD 2810 Hybrid type is the first Damen-built IMO tier 3 compliant tug.
The ASD 2810 Hybrid, which has a combination of diesel-direct and diesel-electric propulsion, facilitates average fuel savings of between 10% and 30% and cuts local emissions by 20 to 60%. The vessel has a bollard pull of 60 tonnes.
The parties involved did not disclose the value of the contract.
Delivery is scheduled for October next year.
