Pemex, Mexico’s national oil firm, on Friday confirmed a discovery of light oil at its Supremus-1 well, in deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The news was announced by Mexican President Felipe Calderon.
The Supremus-1 discovery, located in the Perdido Fold Belt is estimated to hold between 75 and 125 million barrels of oil. The drilling operations have been conducted using the West Pegasus semi-submersible drilling rig, owned by Seadrill.
