
Brazil’s state controlled oil company Petrobras has discovered hydrocarbons at its Farfan offshore prospect.
The the ultra-deepwater well is located in SEAL-M-426 block in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin, some 109 km from the city of Aracaju.
A 44 meter hydrocarbon column of which 40 meters are formed by porous sandstones containing light hydrocarbons, was detected at a depth of 5,582 meters.
