Wintershall to use AGR’s well data software on Maria field

Maria field development plan

German oil company Wintershall will use AGR’s well data management and analysis software tool iQx on its Maria field, offshore Norway.

AGR said on Wednesday that Wintershall is the latest company to adopt iQx, with VNG, Lundin, OMV, Aker BP, and Lukoil already using the tool.

The iQx software is designed to optimize well performance and drilling management by providing a data and knowledge management platform. The tool already holds automatically structured well data for all publicly available wells on the NCS, including data from over 78,000 well locations worldwide.

The tool is constantly updated with public information and can be programmed to process individual company’s data from any industry recognized reporting system or real-time data source.

Petter Mathisen, VP of AGR’s Software Solutions business unit, said: “Our developers and the dedicated team at Wintershall will look into transferring the logging and drilling data to our platform and create working processes that will push the digitalization of well data management within the organization.”

Wintershall’s Maria field is located approximately 20 kilometers east of the Kristin field and about 45 kilometers south of the Heidrun field on the Halten Terrace in blocks 6407/1 and 6406/3 in the Norwegian Sea.

As part of the field’s development, the German firm plans to drill six subsea wells in 2017 using Odfjell Drilling’s semi-submersible drilling rig, the Deepsea Stavanger.

Wintershall operates the field and has a 50 percent share while partners Petoro and Centrica own the remaining 50 percent.

AGR also recently signed a deal with Wintershall for the delivery of technical manpower to support Wintershall’s onshore and offshore teams.
