Oceanografia S.A. de C.V., one of Mexico’s largest offshore vessel operators specializing in underwater survey, diving, pipe laying construction and maintenance operations, has signed a contract with ABS Nautical Systems to implement the NS5 Enterprise asset management software across its entire fleet of multi-purpose offshore support vessels.
Six of the vessels are ABS-classed newbuilds and will utilize the Maintenance & Repair and Drawings Management modules as part of the ABS Newbuild Program, resulting in savings for software licenses, database development and consulting services of nearly $100,000. In addition, the company will also install the Purchasing & Inventory and Crew Management modules.
“At Oceanografia, we are committed to excellence for our clients as well as with our personnel,” said Captain Juan Carlos Hernández, Director of Operations for Oceanografia. “Therefore, this investment is a strategic decision to make sure that we are adequately equipped and trained to handle the rigorous challenges of offshore operations; thereby guaranteeing the achievement of cost efficiency and increased revenue.”
As a longtime customer of ABS, Oceanografia S.A. De C.V. realized the importance of having a software system that had a direct link to classification. After reviewing the features within NS5 Enterprise, they felt confident that the ship-to-shore transparency across their fleet would give them a more consistent management process.
“Without a formal system in place, an important factor in our decision included overall ease-of-use,” added Hernández. “Several of our personnel have been able to work within the system prior to the start of the implementation and we are pleased that little to no training has been required.”
A project plan for the implementation is in place starting with the six newbuilds. The remainder of the fleet is scheduled for completion within the next 12 months.
Working together with Oceanografia S.A. de C.V., the fastest growing company of its class in Cuidad del Carmen, Campeche – Mexico’s most important region for oil and gas operations – makes it a strategic win for ABS Nautical Systems given the sizeable market segment.
“Our very positive experience with the reliability of ABS technologies within our fleet made this decision easy for us,” said Hernández. “While there are other fleet management software suppliers, it was ABS Nautical Systems’ unrivalled dominance and credibility as trusted suppliers to the offshore industry that tipped the scales. We look forward to working with them on this important project, in support of our company and the Mexican offshore industry.”
Oceanografia, under the command of its CEO Amado Omar Yañez Osuna, stands as a prestigious, recognized and trusted company working to support the offshore industry with first class technology.
