Norwegian engineering and construction company AF Gruppen ASA (AFG) has been awarded a new offshore decommissioning project with a client in the UK sector of the North Sea.

AF Gruppen said on Friday it has received an extension notice for a current frame agreement to include future removal and disposal of up to four additional platforms for a client in the UK North Sea.

AF Gruppen also said that the extension includes engineering, preparation, removal and disposal (EPRD) of up to four platforms with a total weight of approx. 4,500 tons.

The company has not revealed the name of the client nor the project it will be working on.

Back in September it became known that Heerema Marine Contractors and AF Gruppen would work on the removal of Dunlin Alpha platform topside in the UK North Sea for Fairfield. The contract is expected to be signed during 4Q 2018.

Earlier this month, Heerema Marine Contractors and AF Offshore Decom, together known as the HAF consortium, were awarded a contract from Marathon Oil for the Brae Bravo platform decommissioning.

The consortium will carry out engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal (EPRD) services of the Brae Bravo Platform in the UK section of the North Sea.

The scope comprises of the topsides, the flare jacket & bridge, and the main jacket.
