Aker BP awards long-term removal contract to Allseas

Norwegian E&P player Aker BP has awarded Allseas a long-term framework agreement for removal services and a call off for removal of the Valhall QP topsides and QP/DP bridge in 2019 and disposal thereafter.

The six years firm contract with two two-year options was awarded to Allseas via Excalibur Marine Contractors.

The agreement includes transport, installation and removal (T,I&R) services.

In addition, options have been agreed for removal and disposal of the QP and 2/4G jackets in the future.

Last month, Heerema was awarded a long term T&I frame agreement and call off for Valhall Flank West (VFW) installation. The frame agreement will now be amended to include removal services and become a T,I&R frame agreement.

Aker BP has therefore entered into two long-term frame agreements for T,I&R services – award of further agreements, without any specific call offs, which may be forthcoming.

Valhall is a giant oilfield in the southern Norwegian North Sea where production started in 1982. It consists of a field center with six platforms and two unmanned flank platforms.

The field was originally developed with three facilities for accommodation, drilling and processing. Today, the Valhall complex consists of six separate steel platforms for living quarters, drilling, wellheads, production, water injection, combined process – and hotel platform respectively. These platforms are bridge-connected.
