Allseas to Build Vessel Larger Than ‘Pieter Schelte’

Swiss-based Allseas has decided to build a second single-lift platform installation and decommissioning  vessel.

The new vessel, larger than Pieter Schelte, can remove all platform topsides in the North Sea which are beyond the capability of Pieter Schelte.

Besides decommissioning, the vessel is designed for worldwide installation of very large topsides.  The topsides lift capacity will be 72,000 metric tons, exceeding the capacity of Allseas’ Pieter Schelte by  50%.
The vessel will have a width of 160 m (525 ft), whereas Pieter Schelte is 124 m (406 ft) wide.  She will be operational in 2020

Pieter Schelte, is a 382 m long, 124 m wide dynamically positioned (DP) platform installation / decommissioning and pipelay vessel, being built by the Korean shipyard Daewoo.

When built, Pieter Schelte  will have a topsides lift capacity of 48,000 t and a jacket lift capacity of 25,000 t. Her pipelay tension capacity will be 2,000 t, doubling the capacity of Allseas’ Solitaire  and thereby surpassing her as the world’s largest pipelay vessel.
