Ampelmann wins Venezuela gangway deal

Dutch offshore access solutions provider Ampelmann has been awarded a contract by Cardon IV (CIV) in support for a Walk to Work campaign in the giant Perla Field, Venezuela.

Cardon IV is a joint venture company owned by Eni and Repsol for developing non-associated natural gas exploration and exploitation activities in Cardon IV area, containing the Perla.

Ampelmann said on Thursday that the contract would continue expanding its fleet in the region.

At the moment, Ampelmann has allocated E-type systems in Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad, and the USA as well as Venezuela.

The company successfully mobilized and installed the A-type system on board of the Armada Tuah 85. The A-type system is a full active motion compensated access gangway, designed to transfer personnel safely and efficiently to offshore structures.

Andres Garcia, business development manager for Latin America, said: “After our first successful walk-to-work campaign in Venezuela where CIV was the end client, we are grateful that CIV has chosen Ampelmann as their partner in this long term project of two years. We look forward to building a strong business relationship with CIV going forward.”

Repsol and Eni in 2015 started up the first producing well at the giant Perla field, the largest offshore gas field in Latin America, holding 17 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas in place.
