Anadarko terminates Dolphin drillship contract

Dolphin Drilling, a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy, has received a termination for convenience notice from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for the four-year contract for the drillship Bolette Dolphin.

Fred. Olsen informed on Sunday that the contract, which was supposed to expire in July 2018, will be terminated effective at the end of August 2017.

The termination fee will be approximately $96 million as per contract, the company said.

The ultra-deepwater drillship Bolette Dolphin was built in 2013 by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South-Korea.

The 6th generation drillship is of a Gusto P10000 design.
