Atlantic Offshore Rescue elects UK managing director

Atlantic Offshore Rescue has appointed a new managing director for its UK division to lead the organisation from its Aberdeen base.

Matthew Gordon joined the company at the start of the year and replaces John Bryce, who is retiring. However, the company says that Bryce will continue to be involved in Atlantic Offshore Rescue in a consultancy capacity.

Gordon’s previous roles include a general manager position within Viking Seatech and an eight year employment span with Subsea 7 – world leading providers of subsea construction services -where his roles included account manager for key clients in the UK, Dutch and Irish sectors; and regional manager for Veripos Division EAME region.

“He brings vision, extensive skills and strategic thinking, which is needed in order to continue the success of Atlantic Offshore Rescue,” John Bryce said.

Atlantic Offshore Rescue is part of the Atlantic Offshore Group, which is headquartered in Norway. Atlantic Offshore Rescue provides multi-role offshore and emergency rescue and response vessels for the oil majors operating in the North Sea.

John Bryce, former managing director of Atlantic Offshore Rescue, said: “Matthew’s many years of expertise in the oil and gas industry makes him the perfect candidate for the role. He brings vision, extensive skills and strategic thinking, which is needed in order to continue the success of Atlantic Offshore Rescue. I am confident that Matthew will relish his new role and I look forward to seeing him further progress the company.”

Matthew Gordon said: “I am excited to undertake my new role within such a dynamic company. It is an exciting time to join the business and I am keen to build on John’s success. We are a niche provider within the UK ERRV market, and the team’s ambition is something that excites me. I fully believe that we can categorically offer the very best emergency response service and our safety record speaks for itself – we offer safety when it’s required most, an absolutely integral part of any offshore operation.

“I would like to thank John for all he has done to develop the company over the past 12 years and wish him a very happy retirement. I look forward to learning from his experience with the company and incorporating it into my vision for Atlantic Offshore Rescue moving forward.”

Inclusive of Atlantic Offshore Rescue’s 11 vessels, Atlantic Offshore Group currently operates a fleet of 24 ERRVs and PSVs and manages further PSVs on behalf of third parties.
