AusGroup bags Ichthys gig

AusGroup’s subsidiary, MAS Australasia, has entered into an agreement with Clough Projects International for the supply of rope access trade services on the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG project in Australia.

To recall, Clough was in January 2016 awarded contracts for hook-up services on the Ichthys LNG project’s central processing facility (CPF) and the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

Back in February, the CPF unit was named Ichthys Explorer and the FPSO vessel was named Ichthys Venturer.

Following its arrival from a Samsung shipyard in South Korea to the Ichthys field, the Ichthys Explorer was in June moored in the Inpex-operated field, 220 kilometers off the north coast of Western Australia, where it will be located for 40 years.

When it comes to MAS’ contract, it supports the hook-up and pre-commissioning phase of the CPF and FPSO facilities.

The company will be responsible for the delivery of rope access trade activities required for the hook-up and pre-commissioning scope of work, supporting onshore and offshore pre-investment activities in Western Australia and Korea.

The company noted that this contract allows for the creation of new Australian jobs while the scope of work will provide opportunities for skilled trade rope access technicians, supported by supervision, safety, administration and management roles.

The CPF is the central hub for initial offshore processing of all well fluids delivered from a 130-kilometer network of subsea well infrastructure. Gas from the CPF will be sent through an 890-kilometer subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG facility, at Bladin Point, near Darwin for processing while the condensate arriving to the CPF will be transferred to FPSO Ichthys Venturer.
