BP Gets Approval to Use Safe Scandinavia on Valhall Field

BP has received consent to use the Safe Scandinavia living quarters facility for accommodation on the Valhall field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

On 27 June 2012, BP Norge AS (BP) received consent to use the Safe Scandinavia mobile living quarters facility on the Valhall field. The facility will be used for accommodation purposes in connection with commissioning and start-up of the new Valhall PH process and accommodation facility. This consent was valid until the end of 2012.

Due to somewhat delayed progress, BP has applied for a new consent until 15 March 2012. The PSA has granted BP a new consent to use Safe Scandinavia in accordance with the application.

Safe Scandinavia was built in 1984 at the Aker Verdal yard to an Aker H-3.2E design. The rig has a twelve (12) point, all chain mooring system allowing station keeping in the harshest of environments.

With a maximum of 583 beds, two workshops and 60 workstations, together with very high levels of accommodation, good cranage and a high payload capacity, the Safe Scandinavia is an offshore support vessel suitable for construction, commissioning and remedial work.
