Dussafu is operated by BW Energy Gabon and Panoro Energy and Gabon Oil Company are its partners. There are five oil fields within the Dussafu Permit: Moubenga, Walt Whitman, Ruche, Ruche North East, and Tortue.

The development of the Dussafu fields is underway, with production from two wells at the Tortue field having started in September 2018. Oil is produced from the Gamba and Dentale reservoirs at Tortue into the leased FPSO vessel Adolo via subsea trees and flowlines. Production is currently in the middle of the range of 10,000 to 15,000 barrels of oil per day.

Phase 2 development activities started in 2019 and will continue into 2020 with up to four additional development wells to be drilled at the Tortue field, which will be tied back to BW Adolo.

In an update on Tuesday, Panoro Energy announced the successful completion of the DTM-4H well, the first of the phase 2 Tortue development wells. The well was drilled with the Borr Norve jack-up drilling rig in 116 m water depth as a horizontal production well in the Gamba reservoir.

The rig has previously drilled the the Hibiscus Updip well (DHIBM-1), located about 56 km offshore Gabon in 116 m water depth.

A long horizontal section of good quality oil-saturated Gamba sands was drilled and completed and the subsea tree installed ready for hook up early next year.

The rig has now moved to the DTM-5H well location, the second of the four phase 2 production wells, and the DTM-5H well was recently spud.

First production from the phase 2 Tortue wells is planned for March 2020 with all four phase 2 wells expected to be online by June 2020.
