C-Innovation scoops Gulf of Mexico flushing contract from Apache

C-Innovation, an affiliate of the offshore vessel owner Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO), has been awarded a flushing contract for Apache’s Bass Lite flowline decommissioning project in the Gulf of Mexico.

C-Innovation said on Wednesday it would be responsible for flushing and preparing 60 miles of pipeline for decommissioning.

The project, which is located in the Mississippi Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to last approximately two weeks, will require two vessels with coiled tubing units, and will be gas lifted using hot tap while flushing operations are executed.

David Sheetz, subsea manager of C-Innovation, said: “The project is complex and the timing will be critical as we manage the logistics of multiple vessels and ROVs along with partner Halliburton’s multiple coiled tubing units. The ability to respond to Apache with a full solution reduces the cost to the client and also reduces the risks by dealing with a single subcontractor.”

Bass Lite is located in water depths of approximately 6,750 feet. Production from Bass Lite began in February 2008 from an early production system until the primary two-well development system was completed in August of the same year.

Natural gas is produced from Bass Lite via a 56-mile subsea tieback to the Devils Tower Spar located in Devils Tower oil and gas field in Mississippi Canyon Block 773.
