CMM orders five oil spill response vessels from Damen

Compagnie Maritime Monégasque SAM has recently secured contracts with Petrobras Brazil to charter five new-build Fast Oil Spill Response Vessels.

CMM has secured contracts with Petrobras to charter five new-build Fast Oil Spill Response Vessels using a new innovative and highly fuel-efficient Sea Axe design by Damen Shipyards Group, allowing the vessel to reach offshore oil platforms in half the time it takes traditional Oil Spill Response Vessels.

According to Damen, the Dutch shipbuilding group, the vessels have unrivalled speed, stability and operability in deep seas.

Three vessels will start operating by end of December 2015 and two by end of June 2016. The four-year firm contract has a value of $130 million and is mutually extendable for a further four-year term. All of the vessels are being built by Damen.

Christophe Vancauwenbergh CMM’s CEO said: “This is our second Brazil project and we look forward to further building and developing our partnership with Petrobras. CMM’s track record in managing and executing projects of this nature, working closely with the client, was key to our success in securing this contract.”
