ConocoPhillips Accepts Delivery of 8,000t Wellhead Platform

Aker Solutions today handed over an 8,000-tonne wellhead platform for installation at the ConocoPhillips-operated Ekofisk field in the North Sea.

The Ekofisk 2/4-Z platform is 75 metres in length, 43 metres in width and 30 metres in height. It will now be transported to the Ekofisk field from Aker Solutions’ yard in Egersund, Norway. Aker Solutions will also work on hooking the platform up with existing Ekofisk infrastructure.

“I am satisfied that we are handing over a high-quality product to ConocoPhillips,” says Per Harald Kongelf, regional president for Aker Solutions in Norway. “Considerable effort has gone into completing the platform, with more than 1,300 people working at peak levels at the yard in Egersund.”

Aker Solutions in August 2012 delivered a bridge weighing 1,150 tonnes and measuring 115 meters in length at Ekofisk. The bridge will link the wellhead platform to the offshore Ekofisk production and processing centre.
