Corinth scoops steel pipes supply deal with Subsea 7

Corinth Pipeworks has been awarded two pipeline contracts by Subsea 7 for projects located offshore Norway.

Corinth Pipeworks signed agreements with Subsea 7 to manufacture and supply steel pipes for two subsea tie-back projects to FPSOs operated by AkerBP.

The company said that the deals, signed on for February 22 and 23, were for work in the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea.

The agreements cover polypropylene coated steel outer pipes for pipe-in-pipe flowlines for the Skogul and Aerfugl projects.

The work on the Skogul project entails 14” line pipe for an 18-kilometer gas pipeline while work on the Aerfugl project is for a 16” line pipe for a 21-kilometer gas pipeline.

The pipes for the offshore pipeline will be manufactured in 2018 in Corinth Pipeworks’ HFI pipe mill located in Thisvi, Greece, and Subsea 7’s installation by reel-lay is scheduled in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Skogul is located in the North Sea and will be one of the smallest fields on the Norwegian shelf with a reserve of 9.4 million barrels.

It will be developed with a two-branch well drilled from a subsea template tied-in to the installations on the Vilje field and will be connected to the pipeline from Vilje to the Alvheim field.

The processing of oil and gas from Skogul will take place on the floating production facility Alvheim FPSO.

As for the Aerfugl field, it is located 60 kilometers long and just 2-3 kilometers wide, situated close to the Aker BP-operated Skarv FPSO.

The first phase of development includes three new production wells in the southern part of the field tied into the Skarv FPSO via a trace heated pipe-in-pipe flowline production is planned to begin in late 2020.

The total remaining reserves for the full-field development are estimated at approximately 275 million barrels of oil equivalents.
