Court Dismisses Lawsuit Against Black Elk Energy CEO

Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations, LLC (“BEEOO”), an independent oil and gas company headquartered in Houston, announced this week that the 164th District Court of Harris County, Texas, recently dismissed a lawsuit filed by a small group of seed capital investors in Black Elk Energy, LLC against the majority unit holders and John Hoffman, Chief Executive Officer of Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations, LLC.

The lawsuit alleged that BEEOO’s management and its majority shareholder breached its fiduciary duties, specifically claiming that management caused the November 16, 2012 fire and explosion on the West Delta 32 platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Three workers died in the incident.

“The court’s dismissal of the plaintiffs’ claims marks the third time that these minority investors in Black Elk Energy, LLC have filed claims against BEEOO, its managers, or its majority shareholder regarding the management or operation of the company. Both of the prior lawsuits were also dismissed before trial,” said Black Elk Energy in a press release
