Deep Sea Supply’s anchor handler awarded Brazilian contract

Deep Sea Supply, the Oslo-listed owner of offshore support vessels, has been awarded a new, time charter contract for the anchor handling tug and supply (AHTS) vessel Sea Tiger for operations offshore Brazil.

Deep Sea Supply said on Thursday that the contract is for a firm period of one year and will begin at the end of January 2017 in direct continuation of the current contract.

The Sea Tiger has been working in Brazil since 2013. Prior to that, according to info on the owner’s website, the vessel had performed a cargo run for Total in the UK North Sea. The vessel started operating in Brazil in March 2013 under a 120-day firm contract with 60 days options.

The contract has been extended several times since then with the last continuation coming in February 2015.

Even though the vessel owner never disclosed the name of the charterer in any of their official contract announcements, Westshore Shipbrokers do Brazil said in their March 2014 edition of the “Brazilian Wave” magazine that the Sea Tiger signed a one-year contract with Brazilian exploration and production company OGPar to assist their operations in multiple roles.

All contracts that came after were direct continuations of the current contract.

Sea Tiger is a multi-purpose anchor handling tug. It was built in Leirvik, Sogn in Norway and delivered to the owner Deep Sea Supply in 1998.
