Destin Declares Force Majeure Due to Tropical Storm Karen. BP Evacuates Workers

Destin Pipeline Co. has declared force majeure due to its unability to provide transportation services from its offshore Receipt Points because of Tropical Storm Karen in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.

“Tulsa Control Center(TCC) will be contacting offshore production platforms to coordinate shut down with facilities,” Destin said.

Destin’s onshore Receipt and Delivery Points will remain in operation. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

BP Evacuates workers

BP began Wednesday securing offshore facilities and drilling rigs and evacuating non-essential personnel from all four company-operated production platforms – Thunder Horse, Na Kika, Atlantis and Mad Dog — that are in the storm’s projected path.

Oil and natural gas production at all BP-operated platforms remains online at this time.

“With safety as our top priority, we will continue to monitor weather conditions closely to determine next steps, ” BP said.
