Kai Naumann (45) has been appointed as managing director of the Hamburg-based specialist shipping company E.R. Offshore GmbH & Cie. KG (E.R. Offshore) on 1 October 2013. He will be responsible for the areas of finance and technology as well as the management of sea and shore-based staff. Together with his co-managing director Ian Perrot, Kai Naumann will drive the development of the offshore shipowner, which currently has 13 offshore vessels, eleven platform supply vessels (PSV) in various size categories and two large anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS).

The position was vacant following the sudden death of former managing director Uwe Groos.

“We are delighted to have retained Kai Naumann – a manager with international experience and excellent qualifications –for the position of managing director of E.R. Offshore,” said Dr. Hermann Klein, CEO of E.R. Schiffahrt and director at E.R. Capital Holding.

After studying business administration and completing his commercial training, Kai Naumann began his career as an internal auditor with RWE Dea AG für Mineralöl und Chemie. He worked on a large number of international mergers as well as overseeing and managing audits of exploration and production concessions together with other international oil and gas companies.

In 2004 he became a senior asset analyst on the Group’s portfolio management team, where his task was to grow the exploration and production licenses in North Africa and the Middle East. Most recently, in his capacity as chief financial officer, he was instrumental in establishing the RWE subsidiary RWE Offshore Logistics Company GmbH in Hamburg.
