Eni needs more room on Goliat

Eni Norge, a Norwegian subsidiary of the Italian oil company Eni, has been given consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use the Floatel Endurance accommodation rig on the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

Due to the extra work on the Goliat field, Eni requires more cabin capacity, and has therefore applied to the PSA for consent to use the Floatel Endurance accommodation facility as a flotel, the PSA reported on Wednesday.

Floatel Endurance will be dynamically positioned and linked to the Goliat cylindrical FPSO by a telescopic footbridge. The consent applies for the period August 20 to November 15, 2017.

Floatel Endurance is a semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel delivered by the Keppel FELS yard in Singapore in 2015. It is owned and operated by Floatel International of Sweden. The facility was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in 2016.

According to its owner, the unit is designed for the most demanding regulatory requirements and is equipped with the Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning System, certified to DP3 class. Floatel Endurance accommodates 440 persons in single bed cabins. It has a telescopic gangway for client personnel to transfer between the flotel and the host installation, a helideck and two deck cranes.
