Ex-Ophir chairman joins Polarcus board

Marine seismic acquisition company Polarcus has elected ex-Ophir chairman Nicholas Smith as its new board member.

Polarcus said on Monday that Smith was elected at the company’s Extraordinary General Meeting and that his term of office expires at the company’s 2017 Annual General Meeting at which time Smith would be nominated for re-election for a term of two years.

He is a chartered accountant with a non-executive track record in the public exploration and production sector and investment trusts, including the chairman position at Ophir Energy.

Smith retired after nine years on Ophir’s board on April 30, 2016. During his time at Ophir, he served seven years as chairman and was succeeded by William Schrader.

Following the addition of Smith to the Polarcus board, it now consists of seven members. Apart from chairman Peter Rigg, other members are Arnstein Wigestrand, Karen El-Tawil, Erik Mathiesen, Tom Henning Slethei, Peter Zickerman, and Nicholas Smith.
