Farstad Shipping sheds supply vessel

Far Scandia

Norwegian provider of offshore vessels Farstad Shipping has, through subsidiary Farstad Supply, sold the platform supply vessel (PSV) Far Scandia. 

Delivery of the vessel to the new owner took place on Friday, January 15, 2016, but the shipping company did not reveal the name of the buyer.

According to Farstad, the sale of the vessel will give a booked loss of approximately NOK 8 million ($910,300) in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The PSV Far Scandia was built in 1991 by Vard’s Brattvaag shipyard in Norway. The vessel, of UT 705 design, has a deadweight of 3,100 DWT and it can accommodate 21 persons.

In October 2015, Farstad laid up two PSVs and three AHTS vessels due to a weakening of the offshore market, and sold its AHTS Lady Guro.

After the sale of Far Scandia, Farstad Shipping’s fleet consists of 60 vessels. Out of those 60, 30 are AHTS, 24 PSV, 6 are subsea vessels and one is a subsea vessel under construction.
