‘Floatel Endurance’ cleared for Gina Krog field work

Norwegian offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has given Floatel International an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel, Floatel Endurance.

PSA said on Tuesday that the Floatel Endurance semi-submersible would work for Statoil at the Gina Krog field in its first commission on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Including this flotel, 61 mobile facilities have how received an Acknowledgment of Compliance from the PSA.

By providing the Acknowledgment of Compliance, the PSA assesses that petroleum activities may be carried out using the Floatel Endurance vessel within the regulatory framework.Floatel Endurance is a semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessel (floatel) designed for worldwide operation with emphasis on harsh environmental conditions, such as the Northern North Sea.

The vessel is equipped with the latest Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning System, certified to DP3 class. Floatel Endurance accommodates 440 persons in single bed cabins and has large recreational areas. The vessel has a telescopic gangway for personnel to transfer between the vessel and the host installation.

A large helideck and two deck cranes to support logistical requirements. A large lay-down area as well as workshops on the main deck to support construction and storage activities.

It was built by Keppel FELS Shipyard in Singapore and delivered in 2015. Its length is 105 meters and has a breadth of 103 meters. Floatel Endurance is powered by six fresh water cooled diesel engines generating sets, 4 700 kW each and has six azimuth thrusters, 3 500 kW each.
