Former Maersk Supply COO becomes Esvagt UK head

Danish shipowner Esvagt has named Claus T. Sørensen to the position of managing director for the UK.

Esvagt said on Wednesday that Sørensen would spearhead the company’s operations in the British market from the office in Aberdeen.

Søren Karas, chief commercial officer for Esvagt, said: “Over the last few years, Esvagt has moved from being a Scandinavian operator to being a large operator in the entire North Sea. Such ambition requires a strong presence close to UK customers.

“It is the largest market in the North Sea, which is why we have employed a strong and experienced leader who, together with our chartering department in Esbjerg, can spearhead our efforts.”

The new UK head, Sørensen, has 25 years of experience in the offshore industry, primarily with A.P. Møller-Mærsk where he, most recently, was the chief operation officer for Maersk Supply Service. He will take over from Nigel K. Taylor.
