GDF Suez begins Byrkje drilling in Barents Sea

GDF Suez Norge has begun drilling of the 7218/8-1 Byrkje well in PL 607 in the Barents Sea.

 

Before spudding the well yesterday, the drilling rig Transocean Barents had drilled a successful pilot whole to a depth of 945 meters. No shallow gas was detected.

The 7218/8-1 Byrkje well is planned to be drilled to a total depth of 3000 meters. The drilling operation is expected to take 47 days.Byrkje Map
