Chief Financial Officer of Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a provider of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels serving the offshore oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, has decided to resign.

GMS said on Tuesday, October 23 that John Brown has given notice of his resignation as CFO of GMS effective from the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the company which is scheduled for May 28, 2019.

Brown has served as CFO since January 2014, having joined the company prior to its initial public offering in March 2014.

The company said it has started the process of recruiting a suitable successor.

Simon Heale, Chairman of GMS, said: “John has been an integral member of the GMS leadership team and I wish to express our gratitude for his valuable contribution and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Earlier this week, GMS appointed Dr Shona Grant as an independent non-executive director of the company with immediate effect. Dr Grant also joined the Audit & Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee, and the Nomination Committee, on appointment.

Dr Grant’s career in the oil and gas industry includes 21 years with BP, where she held key roles in the areas of exploration, research and development and upstream operations. Between 2011 and 2018, Dr Grant held Non-Executive positions with CapeOmega AS & CapeOmega Holding AS, and Norwegian Energy Company ASA.
