Ivory Coast: Hijacked Oil Tanker Set Free

The oil tanker Gascogne, which was hijacked by pirates offshore Ivory Coast last weekend, has been released, the owner of the ship, Sea Tankers, today informed.

Sea Tankers confirmed that the vessel is now safely travelling under the full direction of its Master. The Gascogne was taken over by pirates off the Ivory Coast. The company had lost contact with the vessel on Sunday morning. The ship has now been set free.
“Sea tankers are very pleased all 17 seafarers are reported safe, however sadly  two seafarers were injured during the incident but are taken care off.  Sea tankers would like to thank the naval forces, state authorities and all
persons involved in helping to bring this incident to a safe conclusion,” said the company in a statement.
