Kleven finally offloads 2015-built vessel

Kleven Verft, a Norwegian shipyard, has found a buyer for a newbuild multi purpose support vessel which it completed back in 2015.

Kleven said on Wednesday it had sold the newbuilding 379 to an undisclosed, international buyer.

“We are pleased to have found a solution for this vessel. This was a challenging project for us, since the original customer could not find the finances to take over the vessel by agreed delivery in 2015. It is great to see that the vessel is in operation, says Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven.

To remind, Kleven had signed the shipbuilding contract with Malaysian-based IES Pioneer Ltd. back in July 2014, with the expected delivery in September 2015.

The vessel is of the MT 6015 MPSV design, designed by Norwegian design company MarinTeknikk, outfitted with a crane, helideck and FiFi II.

The original order stipulated that the vessel would have a length of 93,8 meters, a beam of 20,0 meters, a working deck of more than 1,000 sq. meters, and  feature a 150 MT active heave compensated offshore crane, accommodation for 60 persons, CAP 437 compliant helideck , fire-fighting capabilities as well as provisions for ROV operations.

However, in March 2015, Marin Teknikk AS informed it was performing a large re-construction of the vessel including the lengthening the vessel by 9 meters, plus adding a moon-pool and life boats. This was supposed to push the delivery date to December 2015, however, as seen today, the delivery had to wait for more than a year and a half.
