M² Subsea to support TransCanada in Gulf of Mexico pipeline installation

M² Subsea has secured a multi-million dollar contract with TransCanada to carry out pipeline-span support on the company’s pipeline installation for the Sur de Texas-Tuxpan gas project in the Gulf of Mexico.

Based in Houston and Aberdeen, M² Subsea is an independent provider of underwater ROVs and subsea project management and engineering services.

According to M² Subsea’s statement on Wednesday, the scope of work will see M² Subsea install grout supports along the southern leg of the pipeline to prevent stress during installation and hydrostatic testing.

M² Subsea will manage the project working closely with local partner, Mexican-based Frontera Resources, utilizing the Mexican-flagged multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) Tehuana.

The company’s Houston office will be responsible for delivering the workscope with support from the UK team and local partners in Mexico.

Mike Arnold, M² Subsea chief executive officer commented: “This is our second project with Frontera in the Mexican sector and we’re looking forward to building our relationship through the delivery of safe, sustainable subsea work scopes.

“Local content is an integral part of our growth plan and we are extremely proud of the strong partnerships we have built with all of our suppliers in Mexico.”

M² Subsea’s first project with Frontera delivered remedial pipeline work for Permaducto, a subsidiary of Grupo Protexa, in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) oilfield in the Bay of Campeche, 65 miles north east of Cuidad del Carmen, Mexico. The MPSV Tihuana was also used for this project.
