Maersk Drilling bags more jack-up work

Danish offshore driller Maersk Drilling has been awarded two contract extensions for its jack-up drilling rigs in the Netherlands and in the UK.

In its latest fleet status report published on Monday, Maersk Drilling stated that jack-up Maersk Resolute has been awarded a two-month extension by Petrogas in the Netherlands.

The rig has been working for Petrogas in the Dutch sector of the North Sea since June under the contract awarded back in January. Prior to this contract, the rig had been in a warm-stack mode.

Including the extension, the rig’s contract end date is now set for the end of October. The rig is of a MSC CJ50-X100 MC type. It was built by Keppel FELS in 2008.

The second contract extension for Maersk Drilling has been awarded to the 2009-built jack-up Maersk Resolve by Wintershall in the UK.

The Maersk Resolve has been working for Wintershall since early July under the contract awarded in June. Instead of September end date, the contract with Wintershall is now scheduled to end in February 2018, the fleet status report revealed.

Maersk Resolve was designed for year-round operation in harsh environments and in water depths of up to 350ft. The rig is HPHT capable and prepared for Managed Pressure Drilling technology.
