Magma Seeks Engineers for North Sea Projects

Magma Products, a leading oil and gas engineering consultancy, has announced it has secured North Sea projects with a potential value of £15m and is looking to recruit engineers.

Magma has secured framework agreements with four international oil companies to deliver engineering, commissioning and start-up of projects in the North Sea.

The Aberdeen business recently announced it is moving to 4,150 sq ft premises at The Spires Business Units, in the Mugiemoss area of the city. The company currently has a team of 24 but now has capacity for 60 people.

Magma is looking for add 20 engineers to its team to support a diverse range of projects across the spectrum of its services.

Magma is enhancing its reputation in the area commissioning and start-up – the process of introducing first oil and gas to new projects, or after shutdowns, whereby checks, inspections, certification and tests are carried out on components, and systems before handover to the operator or duty-holder.

Paul Rushton, managing director at Magma Products, said “For many companies it would not be viable to have specialist teams in this niche area of engineering.

“We have the expertise, capability and track record of delivering such projects and we’re delighted this has been recognised by major companies operating in the North Sea.

“Central to our success is early engagement in the entire process – allowing us to eliminate or better understand project issues. We’re expecting further demand for our services from operators who recognise its significance, bridging as it does the gap between the complex preparatory stages and the tangible success of first oil or gas.”

Magma has also developed a technology-led system to enhance safety and efficiency during key phases of offshore oil and gas production projects.

The Completion Hand Over Management System (CHOMS) is a tool designed to capture all completion and certification data for all parts of any individual project.

The multi-purpose system, with a project management ‘dashboard’ as its centrepiece, generates improved visibility and accessibility of relevant data during the complex commissioning and start-up phases.
