Norway: AGR FO Kicks Off Expanded In-Service Inspection Contract for Statoil

AGR Field Operations began work on the new In-Service Inspection contract for Statoil on October 1st . The 4 year frame agreement with Statoil covers 24 offshore and onshore assets in Norway.

The expanded scope of work has given the AGR team a challenge to gear up with personnel and equipment in a short time frame.

100 Full Time Staff

The In-Service Inspection team department has experienced an extremely busy period over the past few months preparing to service this contract. The scope of work required about 100 full time staff. This included over 70 technicians trained and certified to the new standards required for In-Service inspection of structures and facilities. Meticulous planning with a fast timeline was required to ensure that AGR were able to meet their contractual commitments.

The HR team was kept busy with hiring high quality personnel over the past two months. This was done in order to complete the inspection teams required prior to contract start-up. The next step was to ensure that  high quality of service delivery to customers could be met. This was achieved by training the team in our HSEQ and management systems. AGR have also been certifying them to the requirements of the scope of work.

Pilot Project

AGR FO started a pilot project that ensures all inspection technicians go through rigorous coursework prior to their certification. This project has been realised with the help of Høgskolen Stord/Haugesund. They are well known for their engineering education tailored for the offshore industry. The institute has put together a web based curriculum which includes all course material required for this training. After finishing the course, the technicians take a test conducted by Force Training to become a certified In-Service Inspector.

All this was possible thanks to the untiring effort of a number of key individuals within the organization. The contracts have almost doubled  total activity levels in In-Service Inspection. AGR expects to add 20 additional personnel over the next six months. These values continue to deliver growth to AGR’s business allowing AGR Field Operations to continue to expand globally delivering unique technologies to the energy industry.
