Norway: Collective pay deal reached for land-based oil workers

Following last week’s breakdown in collective pay talks with employees working in land bases in Norway, Norwegian Oil Industry Association has this week reached an agreement with land employees.

The successful talks this week were held with land-based employees, and white-collar staff offshore in addition to a number of companies in the Greenland area southeast of Oslo which belong to the Federation of Norwegian Industries.

The deal for a collective pay agreement for land-based workers in the oil and gas sector has been settled between the employers and the Norwegian Union of Industry and Energy Workers (Industry Energy) the Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (Safe), Parat and Negotia.

Jan Hodneland, lead negotiator for Norwegian Oil and Gas said the deals reached represent virtually a continuation of the existing accords, with some adjustments in relation to the lead sectors.

“Pay rates will be negotiated at the level of the individual company,” Hodneland said.

About 5 000 workers are covered by these deals. Most of them work on land for such companies as Statoil, BP Norge, ConocoPhillips Norge, Det Norske Oljeselskap, Eni Norge, Esso Norge, Lundin Norway, Norske Shell, Total E&P Norge, Wintershall Norge, Gassco, Teekay Shipping Norway, KCA Deutag Drilling Norge, ESS Support Services and Asco Norge.
