OKEA to live stream offshore well log on Twitch

Norwegian oil and gas company OKEA will on Tuesday start the Draugen drilling campaign offshore Norway, using the Deepsea Nordkapp rig. OKEA will live stream the drilling log from the operations on the semi-submersible rig.

In a statement on Tuesday, OKEA said it would drill the appraisal wells Infill Ø (6407/9-11) and Skumnisse (6407/9-12).

These are OKEA’s first operated wells in Norway. The company received consent from the Norwegian safety regulator, the Petroleum Safety Authority, to drill the two wells using the Deepsea Nordkapp rig in September 2019.

The appraisal wells sit in the production licenses 093 and 093 D.

According to the company, it will live stream the drilling log from the drilling operations on the Odfjell rig Deepsea Nordkapp. Here you will be able to see the same data as the offshore drilling supervisor in real-time. This includes the various drilling parameters and basic logs.

OKEA said it is important to note that the data conveyed in real-time during drilling is not sufficient to deduce the potential value of any hydrocarbon discovery. These data need to be modeled into reservoir 3D models before a final conclusion is announced when the drilling campaign is concluded, OKEA explained.

“The drilling campaign mark OKEA’s commitment to the long-term development of the Draugen Area. In addition, the live streaming of the drilling log positions OKEA on the leading edge of data sharing as well as demystify what oil companies actually do offshore,” said OKEA CEO Erik Haugane.

“We are very satisfied with starting the drilling less the 12 months after OKEA became operator on Draugen. We look forward to an efficient and well-executed campaign,” said VP Drilling & Wells, Ida Ianssen Lundh.

The live stream can be followed on OKEA’s website www.okea.no or the link below:
