Update: Perdana’s vessel supporting Roc Oil’s drilling operations in Malaysia

The article was previously titled: “Perdana finds work for vessel trio offshore Malaysia”. Perdana originally said it had won a deal for one AHTS vessel and two PSV’s with Roc but has subsequently issued an amending statement where it said the deal was actually for one AHTS vessel only.

Malaysia’s Perdana said in a Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday that its subsidiary, Perdana Nautika Sdn Bhd, received letters of award for two anchor handlers and one PSV from Roc Oil. The company added that the contract began on September 20 and would last for 380 days with an extension option of 30 days.

The contract value is RM16.195 million ($3.86 million), including the contract value for the option period.

Perdana however, on Wednesday issued a statement saying it had erroneously said it had won contracts for two AHTS and PSV, saying the deal was only for one AHTS, but adding that the contract terms remain the same as stated on Tuesday. The unnamed anchor handler will be supporting Roc Oil’s second phase of D35 drilling campaign offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.

The contract will enable Perdana Nautika to provide the vessels, crews, and associated equipment for continuous 24-hour operations.

It is worth noting that Velesto Drilling, formerly known as UMW Oil & Gas, received a letter of award from Roc Oil in July this year for the provision of a jack-up drilling rig for its D35 Phase 2 drilling program.

Velesto assigned its NAGA 4 jack-up unit for this contract. The estimated value of the contract was $31 million. The contract, for eleven wells, started in August 2018.

As for the D35, the field is located on the continental shelf in the Sarawak Basin offshore Eastern Malaysia. The operator of the field is Petronas Carigali with a 40 percent interest. Its JV partners are Roc Oil with 30%, Dialog Resources 20%, and E&P Malaysia Ventures with 10%.

Although Petronas Carigali is the operator, it has appointed Roc as the project development manager, responsible for the subsurface management, well engineering, new facilities projects, and redevelopment project execution.
