Petrobras finds gas in Espírito Santo Basin

Brazil’s Petrobras has announced the discovery of a hydrocarbon accumulation in deep waters of the Espírito Santo Basin while drilling the Lontra well, at a water depth of 1,319 meters.

The well, which is 81 km offshore the city of Vitória in Espírito Santo state and lies within the Golfinho concession area, confirmed the presence of gas and condensates, as supported by log data and cable tests. The reservoirs were identified at 3,055 meters in depth and well drilling operations ceased at 3,238 meters.

Petrobras is the operator and holds 100% of the Golfinho production concession.
