Petrobras starts oil output at Roncador field

Petrobras started-up production on platform P-62 in the Campos Basin’s Roncador field on Monday, May 12, 2014.

Deployed at a water depth of 1,600 meters, P-62 is an integral part of the Module 4 project for the Roncador field. Twenty-two wells, 14 oil and gas production and eight water-injection, will be connected to the platform.

The platform, also known as a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO) has the capacity to process up to 180,000 barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Oil will be taken off the FPSO by shuttle tankers, and natural gas via a pipeline connecting the FPSO to the Campos Basin gas distribution network.

The FPSO construction work created 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs, with local content reaching 63%.

The unit’s oil processing and gas compression modules were built in Rio de Janeiro and taken to the Estaleiro Atlântico Sul (EAS) shipyard in Ipojuca, Pernambuco state, where the electrical panels and main power generation modules were built and all modules integrated to the platform’s hull.

The new platform will operate in conjunction with production platforms P-52, P-54 and P-55, already deployed in the Roncador field.
