Petronas to spin drill bit in Turkmen sector of Caspian Sea soon

Malaysia’s state-owned oil giant Petronas will soon start drilling its first well on the Garagol Deniz West field, offshore Turkmenistan.

The Garagol Deniz West field is located in the contract territory Block 1 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

Quoting Petronas’ Ashgabat office, Nebit-Gaz, an online newspaper of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan, reported that Petronas was actively preparing to start drilling with the new platform, with three wells planned in the initial stage of the project.

Having received a license for exploration and production of oil and gas in the Block 1 as part of Magtymguly, Diyarbekir and Garagol Deniz fields, Malaysian company signed the agreement with the Turkmen government for the division of production in July 1996.

Nebit-Gaz also informed that, currently, the oil company was working on the development, production, transportation and marketing of hydrocarbons in the fields Diyarbekir, Magtymguly and Garagol Deniz with a number of offshore production platforms, built in previous years.
