The NPD said on Friday that the wildcat well, designated 6507/5-9 S, would be drilled from the Deepsea Nordkapp drilling rig after completing the drilling of development wells on Skogul in production license 460.

The drilling program for the well relates to the drilling of wildcat wells in production license 838. PGNiG’s Norwegian subsidiary is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 per cent. The other licensees are Aker BP and Wintershall DEA with 30 percent each.

The area in this license consists of part of block 6507/6 and part of block 6507/5. The well will be drilled about 4.5 kilometers southeast of the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea.

Production license 838 was awarded on February 5, 2016, in APA 2015 on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well which will be drilled in the license.

To remind, the Deepsea Nordkapp rig was recently involved in Aker BP’s small gas discovery near the Bøyla field.
