Ultra Deep Solutions-owned new dive support construction vessel (DSCV) named Matisse is taking shape in China.
Ultra Deep Solutions posted an image on social media on Tuesday showing the Matisse under construction at the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) shipyard in China.
The Marin Teknikk-designed vessel will be a DP3 DNV-GL ship with a 24-men saturation system with twin-bell and twin 24-men self-propelled hyperbaric lifeboats (SPHL).
The 145-meter-long, 27-meter-wide Matisse will be fitted with a 400-tonne Huisman crane which can reach working depths of 5,200 msw. The newbuild DSCV will also have two 250 HP WROVs that can work in 4,000 msw.
The Ice C Class vessel will have 2,200 square meters of open deck space suitable for a well intervention tower and flex lay tower.
The entire Ultra Deep Solutions fleet is named after artists. Namely, the Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, and the Matisse DSCVs, none of which are completed, will be delivered in 2Q 2018, 3Q 2018, and 2Q 2019, respectively.
The only active DSCV is the Lichtenstein, while the Picasso has recently completed sea trials.
In addition, the company decided in January to exercise an option with CMHI for a new dive support construction vessel named the Kandinsky which would be a sister vessel of the Matisse.
