Providence adds Tullow director to its board

Irish oil and gas exploration company Providence Resources has appointed a new non-executive director to its board of directors with effect from June 1, 2017.

Providence said on Monday that the exploration director and main board director of Tullow Oil, Angus McCoss, was named as the company’s non-executive director.

According to Providence, McCoss joined Tullow in 2006 following 21 years of wide-ranging exploration experience, working primarily with Shell in Africa, Europe, China, South America, and the Middle East. He held several senior positions at Shell, including regional VP of exploration for the Americas and general manager of exploration in Nigeria.

He is also a member of the advisory board of the industry-backed Energy and Geoscience Institute of the University of Utah.

Pat Plunkett, chairman of Providence Resources, said: “The board is delighted that Angus has agreed to join us at a very exciting period in our corporate development. Angus brings extensive knowledge and relevant exploration experience which will assist us in further realizing the very significant value in our portfolio.”

Next month, the company will use the Stena IceMAX drillship to drill an exploration well targeting the Druid and Drombeg prospects in Frontier Exploration Licence 2/14 offshore Ireland. Ahead of these drilling plans, Providence recently found a partner for the license in Capricorn, a subsidiary of Cairn Energy.
