Report Russians score $1 billion rig construction deal in Iran

Big news from Russia. According to a report, a Russian shipyard has scored a mega deal to build offshore drilling rigs for the Iranian oil and gas industry.

According to this week’s report by Reuters, Russian shipyard Krasnye Barrikady has secured a contract to construct five offshore drilling rigs, to be used in the Iranian section of the Persian Gulf.

Citing an unnamed official from Krasnye Barrikady, Reuters said the value of the contract is around $1 billion, with the advanced payment for the first rig expected “soon”.

The first installment will be around $200 million, the official reportedly said.

Offshore Energy Today has reached out to Krasnye Barrikady, seeking more info. We will update the article if we get a response.
