RMSpumptools will be showcasing three of its products at EuALF 2014 next week after a seven-figure investment. The firm recently invested over £2million in research and development into pioneering products and believes it is set to change the face of ESP artificial lift technology. Working closely with all the major pump companies to develop new products, RMSpumptools is at the heart of artificial lift innovation and sees Aberdeen as the global industry’s ESP Artificial Lift Centre of Excellence.

According to the Schlumberger Oilfield Glossary, Artificial Lift is any system that adds energy to the fluid column in a wellbore with the objective of initiating and improving production from the well. Artificial-lift systems use a range of operating principles, including rod pumping, gas lift and electric submersible pump.

Headquartered in Oldmeldrum, RMSpumptools has manufacturing facilities in Inverurie, Yorkshire and Singapore and has been serving the artificial lift oil industry for over 20 years. The specialists in performance-driven artificial lift completion products and electric submersible pump (ESP) accessory tools will unveil the ground-breaking results of this investment at SPE’s European Artificial Lift Forum, 17-18 June.

The company will showcase three patented products: the unique Y-Chek, an Automatic Y-Tool with multiple sealing feature; The SWITCH® – a world-first in artificial lift technology which delivers significant reductions in operating and capital costs, planning and lost production time; and the Frontier Series High Power/High Pressure Penetrators which have set a new benchmark for power delivery in ultra-deepwater applications.
Neil Thompson, Marketing Manager at RMSpumptools said: “EuALF is the perfect forum for us to exhibit these exciting developments to our customer base. All three products have been designed to ensure the efficient economic success of even the most testing completions – reinforcing our established track-record of providing products that deliver unequalled performance and reliability, by reducing overall project cost and maximising production time.

“The multi-billion dollar artificial lift industry requires those involved to challenge traditional techniques and be prepared to innovate – creating solutions which ultimately deliver enhanced operations, lower workover costs and the maximum possible return on ESP completions.”

In addition to showcasing its technology, Steve Abbey, Surface & Downhole Business Manager will present a technical paper on the development of High Power/High Pressure Electrical Connectors, which forms part of ultra-deepwater projects in the Gulf of Mexico, with the technology being developed in the UK by RMSpumptools.

Commenting on his presentation, Steve said: “I am delighted to be able to present our innovative High Power/High Pressure Electrical Connectors at an event as relative as EuALF 2014 – it’s going to have an incredibly significant effect on oil production from depths that were not previously achievable.
“We believe that Aberdeen is right at the centre of ESP Artificial Lift Technology and should be recognised as the global centre of excellence. We want to express just how vital this technology is for the global market, in particular in the Middle East, Gulf of Mexico, China, Russia and of course the UK and Norway”

The company currently employs 110 members of staff across its bases in Yorkshire and Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, which it plans to increase by 10% by the end of 2014 – with particular focus upon recruitment of technical sales staff.
