Australian oil and gas company Santos has appointed a new independent non-executive director to its board of directors, effective July 1, 2017.
Santos said on Friday that the appointment of Vanessa Guthrie as an independent non-executive director is part of the board’s ongoing renewal process, following the retirement of Scott Sheffield at the conclusion of the recent annual general meeting.
Guthrie has substantial experience in the mining industry across a variety of roles including operations, environment, community, indigenous affairs, corporate development, and sustainability.
She was previously a managing director and CEO of Toro Energy Limited and VP of sustainable development at Woodside Energy and is currently chair of the Minerals Council of Australia and a non-executive director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Guthrie has qualifications in environment, law and business management as well as a PhD in Geology.
