SBM Offshore allowed to bid for Petrobras FPSOs

Dutch supplier of floating production solutions SBM Offshore is returning into play for taking part in Petrobras’ tenders for FPSO vessels, after having been banned due to a bribery investigation.

In a statement issued Monday, SBM Offshore said its main Brazilian subsidiary has received written notification from Petrobras of its ability to participate in the recently issued Libra and Sépia FPSO tenders in Brazil.

“This follows a thorough review of the Group’s compliance standards by Petrobras, including its compliance department,” the company has said in the statement. SBM Offshore noted that a definitive invitation to bid on the Libra FPSO tender required approval by the partners in the Libra field.

SBM Offshore said it continued to be in active dialogue with the relevant Brazilian authorities.

Petrobras in May 2014 said it would not seek bids from SBM Offshore as long as SBM was under a bribery investigation in Brazil.

In April 2015, SBM Offshore expressed its belief that “there should be no impediment for it to resume its bidding activities in Brazil as soon as possible.”
